Leo's Story: A number of rescue folks had been alerted to a Saluki that had been running free for over a month in a remote area near Victorville, CA. During the time he was on the run, he suffered a badly broken leg and was malnourished, which is an understatement. He really was starving. Note the 'before' photo (the last slide).
The amazing rescue folks with Afghan Hound Rescue of Southern California were able to trap him. His owner reclaimed him and had a vet repair his broken leg; however, the owner realized that the cost and the time of rehab was going to be overwhelming for him so wanting to do the right thing for Leo, he relinquished him to AHRSC where he is in foster care, being loved and cared for today. Lucky, lucky Leo!!
Leo will be in rehab for some time as he still has some vet needs that will need to be taken care of however, his leg is healing nicely under the watchful eye of his foster mom.
AHRSC has asked STOLA to help with Leo's placement and care.
He is a cream feathered male (will be neutered at some point) and is about 3 years old. He is very shy, seems to prefer women, but his foster mom says he is housetrained, very sweet and just a wonderful young Saluki!
Please feel free to reach out if you might have interest in this young male, with the understanding that it could be a couple of months before he is ready to go to his new home.
