Meet Wasta, Female spayed, 10 Year old Saluki mix
Wasta is a 10-year-old Omani wadi dog (Saluki mix)--her genes aren't 100% Saluki, but her personality definitely is! We love her very much, but unfortunately, we have moved to a city where fireworks go off almost every evening all summer long, and even the strongest medication available (not to mention everything else we've tried) only calms her from "frantic" to "unhappy". She is definitely not living her best life. If there's another person or family who could give her a calmer environment--year-round or just for the summers--we would rather she be happy with you than safe but unhappy with us.
Except for her noise aversion, Wasta is very adaptable; she has strong preferences and is not shy about communicating them, but she is also very intelligent and learns quickly. She can be home alone without any problems (unless there are boomies), she likes most humans once she gets to know them, and she gets along with most other dogs as long as they respect her clearly-stated boundaries. On the downside, she is very stubborn and not always obedient (she is capable of ignoring even her favorite treats), and she barks at "trespassers" and will chase prey. She would do best with an attentive and experienced human.
