"And I could have told you, Vincent,
This world was never meant for one
As beautiful as you." [Don McLean]

The above photos of Vincent were taken shortly after his rescue from the Fort Worth, TX abuse and hoarding incident. Vincent's full story can be found in our e-newsletter issue located Vincent has come so far in the short time since he entered his foster home. Below, please enjoy some new photos, taken mid-August, 2010. |
His foster mom says: I can hardly believe the change in this sweet Saluki. I know it looks like his coat has grown in, but what you are actually seeing is the fuzz of a new coat! But at least it is COMING IN!!!! You will notice what looks like dandruff around his ears, but he is actually still sloughing scars from the ticks and fleas and wounds. He is ever so slowly making progress. He will whimper a bit now when he hears me talking to other dogs, as if to say, 'hey, don't forget about me'. He is healing into a sweetheart of a Saluki! |
She adds: [ Although Vincent has come a long way,] his recovery will take months due to his level of neglect. He seems to have a very sweet temperament...takes time for him to warm up and he is not comfortable in large groups of people or dogs. Right now we go VERY_SLOW with him. He is beginning to show levels of emotion...but he never barks...never does anything to stand out or shift the focus his way...unless it is whining when he hears our voices! But I consider that real progress. |
